Serenbe Engagement Photos

I am so excited to share Hannah and Barney's Serenbe engagement photos with you! These two are so darling together. They attended Georgia Tech at the same time, but they did not begin dating until after they graduated from college. Hannah and Barney hung out in the same group of friends, and Hannah actually met Barney when she was dating his roommate. When her relationship ended, Barney reached out to her and began to spend more time with her. He invited her out on a date, and though she turned him down at first, he persisted in getting to know her. When I asked him why he kept pursuing her, he said, "She's the most selfless person I know. I knew I wanted to share my life with her."

One night, he opened his heart to her. Whether or not she wanted to be with him, he had to share how he felt. I asked Hannah what he said to change her mind, and she smiled and said, "He said I was the first person that he thought about when he woke up in the morning and the last person that he thought about when he went to bed. He cared about me, and it was real. And I knew that I could fall in love with him." They began dating shortly after that, and now they're preparing to build a marriage and a family together. I cannot wait to document their Atlanta wedding next Spring!

Serenbe Engagement Session : Jeff & Laura

I imagine that Laura had heard the phrase, "There is this guy I know that you just have to meet!" more times than she could count. She is joyful, vibrant, and absolutely beautiful, so it's no surprise that people frequently tried to set her up with their eligible male friends. Her friend's matchmaking skills fell short, however, until her twin sister Phebe got involved. Phebe and Jeff work together at an elementary school, and it didn't take long for her to realize that he would be a good match for her sister. She invited them both over to her house for dinner just before Christmas last year. What began as a typical, awkward blind date ended with Jeff feeling certain that Laura was the woman that he wanted to spend his life with. He proposed a few short months later, and they are getting married at Jeff's family home later this fall. These two are so warm, relaxed, and fun, and I cannot wait to celebrate and document their wedding day!

Serenbe Engagement : Gamble & Taylor

Their friendship began in the 7th grade. They don't remember where or how they met, because theirs was the kind of relationship that began easily and comfortably. Their friendship slipped quietly into their lives, filling a space that they didn't know was empty; a space that seemed to be made for the other person to fill. The day that they met was probably an ordinary middle school day - a day filled with bustling hallways, homework assignments, and notes passed when the teacher wasn't looking. That day, beneath the not-so-romantic glow of fluorescent lights,  their lives were forever changed. And they didn't even know it. Gamble and Taylor remained close friends throughout middle and high school, but like many young adults they lost touch when they left home for college. Gamble headed to Alabama while Taylor began her new life at Auburn. They made new friends and new memories, and they didn't think much about the friendship that they had left behind until Spring Break of their senior year. Gamble was wandering the streets of Key West with a group of his friends when he noticed a slender blonde making her way through a crowd of people. He looked through his phone, found Taylor's cell phone number, and called. When the beautiful blonde woman he had his eye on answered her phone, he was amazed. He could not understand how he had managed to run into one of his childhood friends while so far from home, but he knew one thing for sure - he was not letting her slip out of his life again.

Gamble graduated shortly after their chance encounter, and it was not long before he asked Taylor out on their first date. And then another. And then another. A few months ago, he asked her to be his wife, and I'll be joining them as they begin their journey into marriage next summer. Gamble and Taylor, I had so much fun wandering around Serenbe for your session, and I cannot wait to celebrate your wedding with you!

Serenbe Engagement : Whit & Abby

When Whit's friends set him up on a blind double date, he wasn't expecting much. He certainly didn't expect to be introduced to a blonde haired, blue eyed fox like Abby. He couldn't believe he'd been set up with such a beautiful woman, and his first thought was This girl is way out of my league. So rather than pursuing conversation with Abby, he joined in conversation with his friends and didn't make much of an effort to get to know her. Abby's first impression of Whit was This guy is completely uninterested in me. He spoke to his friends more often than he spoke directly to her, and she couldn't seem to engage him in meaningful conversation. Rather than fight for his attention, she decided just to enjoy her dinner and the company of her friends, and she chalked it up as a mismatched blind date.

They almost missed each other. There they were, two people being introduced to their future spouse, and they almost missed it. But luckily, as they departed the restaurant, they had a few minutes to chat together. What could have been a simple goodbye turned into a moment that caught both of their attention. Whit quickly realized that Abby was a woman worth fighting for, and he asked for her phone number. Abby was surprised in his sudden change of heart, but she gave him her phone number and was pleasantly surprised when he called three days later to ask her out. It didn't take long after that for both of them to realize that they had met their perfect match.

I met up with Whit and Abby on Saturday evening, which happened to be the anniversary of that fateful first date. They laughed as they recounted the awkwardness and feigned indifference that they had shared that night, and they smiled as they considered the adventures that they will encounter together as part of their shared future. I cannot wait to celebrate their wedding with them next July!

Serenbe Engagement Photos

Oh, how I love this sweet session! Marianna is one of my Alpha Gam sorority sisters and my dearest friend from college. I've never met another person who loves people as faithfully and completely as she does. She has been a fountain of encouragement, support, ideas, and laughter for me for many years, and I am so thankful that she's found someone who makes her so happy. You know that I think the world of both of you, and I cannot wait to celebrate your wedding with you in August. I love you guys!

Daniel & Phebe : Serenbe

If you've explored the blog a bit, you may remember these two from their December wedding in Columbus. Daniel and Phebe are two of the most precious people I've ever worked with. Phebe was so excited to have her engagement photos taken at Serenbe, but she wanted to have them done when the grounds were lush and green, so she decided to postpone their session until after they were married. I think it was a wonderful idea, because they were able to bring their adorable new puppy-child Maggie with them! And I was so happy to reconnect with them. They are both passionate about working with students, and they will both be teaching starting in August. Daniel and Phebe, you two are such a treasure! I can't wait to see how God uses the two of you in your classrooms. I know He has amazing plans in store. :)
