Married! Daniel & Phebe : Columbus, GA

I knew from the moment I read Phebe's first email that I wanted to be part of her wedding. Her energy and enthusiasm are beautiful and contagious, and I found myself wanting to get to know her better. Now that I have met her, Daniel and their families, I can say with absolute certainty that she is every bit as wonderful a person as I imagined her to be. She did not stop smiling and laughing all day! While we were waiting for her to arrive for the first look, Daniel filled me in on their love story. Though they have only been "together" for a little over a year, they were friends for year before that. It just took them a while to realize how right for each other they were. Their story makes my soul sing, because I know first hand what a beautiful marriage can be built on the solid foundation of friendship. Enjoy a peek into their wonderful wedding day!

I want to pause and say a HUGE thanks to my sweet friend Anne Almasy who joined me at the last minute on Saturday. She took the next photo on the right.

And now, what you've all really been waiting for... my friends and I looking like total goobers! Having both Lisette and Emma at Ian and Jenna's wedding made for some really funny and awesome moments, and many of them ended up caught on camera!

First up, here's my wonderful and talented assistant Emma. This girl is out of this world. She's a dancer, actress, poet, photographer-in-training and seamstress. Here she is hemming one of the bridesmaids dresses.

I needed to test my light for family portraits, so Lisette stepped up on the stage... and made a really goofy face!

I am much better at demonstrating poses than describing them, so I often find myself in some crazy situations. Thanks, Lisette, for grabbing some of my favorite "in action" shots ever!

And now for the dancing. Be warned: I am not by any means a good dancer, as these photos clearly show, but I love to do it anyway!

I'll leave you with one more. I love this because right before Emma took the picture, Ian took off his hat and sat it on my head. It's definitely my favorite picture from the day. Just sayin' :)

Ian & Jenna { Columbus, GA }

I don't even know where to begin describing this wedding, so I'm just going to jump in with the pictures! Ian and Jenna were married at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Columbus, Georgia. To say that these two are cool would be an understatement. Ian leads worship for various church plants south of the Metro area, and Jenna is a photoshop addict and an amazing retoucher. I knew from Jenna's first email that we would become fast friends, and I have been excited about their wedding for a very long time. I'm so excited to be able to share these images with all of you!

I love these two photographs from their first look. Jenna looks so mischevious sneaking up behind Ian, and then so overjoyed when she gets to see his face!

When I sat down to talk to Jenna and Ian about their wedding day, one of the concerns that Jenna had was that she felt the church was a little plain, and that there might not be many places to get interesting pictures. I was excited to have a challenge! It's always fun to photograph people in unexpected places. For example, the blue background is actually the door of a mobile storage unit that was in the parking lot next door. How cool is that?

I don't cry at weddings. I am amazed by them. I love them. I celebrate them. I laugh and cheer and dance, but I haven't ever cried... until now. As I watched Ian & Jenna's parents surround them to lift them up in prayer, I just couldn't help myself. In that moment, I was so overwhelmed by God's love for us. Not only did He give us His Son to be our redeemer and His Spirit to be our comforter, but He also brings people together so that love can have a face and a voice and an embrace. He is such an amazing Father, and His love was displayed so beautifully by these two. It was such a blessing to document this part of their love story.

What a fun, attractive bunch! I absolutely love the way Jenna coordinated the colors of the wedding party. The bridesmaids' sashes, jewelry, and bouquets matched the color of the escorts' boutonniere and SOCKS! How fun!

After the ceremony, we headed to the Port Columbus Civil War Naval Museum for the reception. This place was absolutely unreal. It was the perfect backdrop for Ian & Jenna's rockin' party! Here are the best dancing shots of the evening. I'll be posting out takes later!
