I am so excited to share Noah and Samantha’s Nash Farm engagement session with you today! This lovely couple won my wedding photography giveaway this year, and I cannot wait to be part of their sweet wedding in July. But before I share their images with you, I want to take a moment to share my heart. God is working so powerfully in my life, and His influence has lead me to make some major changes to the way that I do business that I am excited to share with you.
During the Christmas season last year I began to feel restless. God moved my heart to compassion for the people around me who were hurting and who had great needs, and I prayed, “Lord make me prosperous, so that I may give generously and help meet the needs of others.” I began researching pricing strategies, and I mathematically determined how much I needed to charge per wedding and how many weddings I needed to shoot per year in order to have enough left over to give to those in need. I took my efforts to the Lord in prayer and asked God to bless my plan. I created a new pricing guide, I made changes to my website, and I began delivering the new pricing information to potential clients. In the midst of my busyness, God called out to me in a still, small voice. My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways.
To say that I was confused was a complete understatement. But Lord, I prayed, I am doing all of this for you. It was then that God began to show me through His word that He did not need me to do anything for Him. He created me with a desire to document people’s lives. He developed a talent for photography in me. His purpose for my business was greater than anything I could think of or ask for, and He wanted to accomplish it through me.
So I asked Him, “Lord, what do You want me to do?” His response was unexpected, but embracing it has brought me more joy, more freedom, and more peace than any other business decision I’ve made. He lead me to abandon my traditional pricing strategy, stop focusing so much on financial prosperity, and begin focusing on meeting the needs of the families around me regardless of their budget. To create images that will encourage, strengthen, and bring joy to them no matter how much they have to invest in a wedding photographer.
What does this mean? It means that I no longer have a set price list that I send to potential clients. I’m not looking to connect with couples who have the right amount of money to spend. I want to connect with couples who share my love of classic, natural, romantic images. Couples who are focused on creating strong, enduring marriages. Couples who are passionate about preserving their wedding moments in print. Couples who believe that a wedding photographer is part artist and part family historian. Whether you are getting married in your backyard or in a ballroom, if you and your fiancé share these beliefs and connect with my style, then I would love to speak with you about how I can be part of your wedding. Just fill out my contact form to find out my availability.
And now - on to Noah and Samantha’s beautiful engagement session!
