I love a good story, and while real life can encourage and inspire me, more often than not I find my heart being swept up into the beauty and adventures of powerfully written fiction. Some of my favorite authors include Francine Rivers, C.S. Lewis and Jane Austen. I can literally sit and read for hours, passing my afternoons laying on the couch in a sun-bathed living room or spending my evenings straining to uncover as many words as I possibly can before I fall asleep. I love getting to know new characters as I navigate through scene changes and plot twists, and often I can pick up books that I've read repeatedly and greet familiar characters as though they are old friends. I don't just read books - I devour them. They are like delicious dark chocolate for my soul. Combine one of these fascinating story lines with strong imagery and stirring music, and you've got a recipe for a perfect evening.
I went downstairs after all of my classes were finished this afternoon, turned on the TV and noticed that Pride and Prejudice had been recorded on my DVR - SCORE! Of course I had to sit and watch it, and from the first glimpse of the sunrise in the opening scene to the flicker of candlelight at the end, it soothed and refreshed me. The cinematography is absolutely stunning, and it has given me so many ideas for my next wedding. I love that I can draw inspiration from so many parts of life, even a simple, classic story. It made me wonder, where do you draw inspiration from? Leave a comment and let me know!
PS. I will be posting my goals for the New Year very soon, so stay tuned. I've really been taking my time thinking through what I want to focus my time and energy on this year, and I'm excited to share that with you.
