One of the most beautiful and challenging things about marriage is that people are mutable. They constantly learn, grow, adapt, and change. The experiences and circumstances that we encounter on a daily basis – the joys and hardships, the victories and defeats, the celebrations and sufferings – change us, which is why it’s so important that we choose to love our spouses daily. For a marriage to last, you have to love the person that you are married to today, even if that person looks different than the person you shared you vows with many years ago.
I think this is why the idea of someone marrying their high school sweetheart is so romantic to us. People often grow and change more during their college years than they do during any other season of life, and I think it’s beautiful to see two people love each other through that transition and choose to spend their lives together. That’s one of the many things that I love about Clay and Brittany. They’ve been together for over 6 years, and I am so excited to celebrate their wedding with them (finally!) in November.
