To say that I was excited to be part of Erin & Brian’s wedding day would be a supreme understatement! Erin is one of my sorority sisters and biggest supporters, and her passion for my work fueled my passion to share her wedding. Two days before her wedding, my dad was admitted into the ICU due to complications from surgery, and I was afraid that I wouldn’t be able to share her day with her. I had a backup photographer ready to take my place if need be, but he improved overnight and Saturday I headed down to Augusta to document and celebrate their amazing wedding. It was a beautiful spring day, and I am so glad that I was able to be there! Brian and Erin, thank you for your understanding and your prayers. Your wedding day was incredible, and I’m so glad I didn’t have to entrust your memories to someone else!

Sunflowers are Erin’s favorite flower, so of course her bouquet was full of them!

I went a little crazy with pictures of the bride. Forgive me – she’s just such a stunner!

Every beautiful bride needs an equally handsome groom, and this is Erin’s. Meet Brian.

Their wedding ceremony took place at The Partridge Inn, a classicly styled venue in Augusta.

After the ceremony, we headed down to the River Walk for their portraits together. The light was amazing!

Engaged! Clayton & Melanie : Nash Farm

While photographing these two together, I found myself saying over and over again, “You two look so natural together!” Melanie’s response was, “I hope so. We’ve got plenty of experience taking pictures together!” I’ve known these two since I was in high school, and they’ve been dating almost as long as I’ve know them. They are an adorable pair who love to joke, laugh and serve the Lord together. Melanie was all smiles from the moment the session started. “I laugh when I’m nervous!” she declared. I smiled and thought, And this is why you’re my perfect client. I love to photograph joy, and these two are amazingly joyful together. I’m so excited to be spending their wedding with them in June!

Married! Cory & Meagan : Chateau Elan

I am honored to be a part of all of my couples’ wedding celebrations, but I have to say that this wedding holds a special place in my heart. Meagan booked me for her wedding about a year ago, and at the time she was planning an entirely different event than the one you’ll see in these images. During her engagement, her family suffered a significant loss, and she had to completely re-imagine her wedding day. The result, I think, was incredible. They had a quiet, intimate ceremony in the art gallery at Chateau Elan and their reception followed in the cask room. Every detail of the day was beautifully put together, and though there were moments of sadness for Cory and Meagan, the day was also full of unimaginable joy.

Meagan had her father’s wedding band tied to her bouquet so that a piece of him would be with her throughout the day.

Goodness, Meagan, you look STUNNING! I could have photographed you all day!

Denise Myers with TruSo Weddings put together a beautiful bridal bouquet for Meagan.

I loved when I get to see my brides again! I photographed Derek & Jessica’s wedding back in 2009.

Is it just me, or does Cory look stunned by the sight of his beautiful bride walking down the aisle? I love this moment!

After the ceremony, we headed out to the winery for their portraits together. The vineyard isn’t lush and green just yet, but the stormy skies and the Chateau provided a beautiful backdrop for us!

See what I mean about those skies? Beautiful!

I am officially a huge fan of Chateau Elan’s cask room. The warm tones and wooden wine barrels combine to provide a unique, intimate setting for a wedding reception.

Cory & Meagan chose to have a candy bar instead of a traditional groom’s cake. I love all of the bright colors they used! And I also loved that they had chocolate bar wrappers printed with their last name.

Meagan had a special table set up in honor of her dad. The poem that she displayed was so tender and sweet.

Cory & Meagan, it was truly a joy to be a part of your wedding day! I know that over the last few months you’ve shared lots of tears, and I hope and pray that the time you share together in the future will be filled with laughter, joy and shared adventures!

I have always been a fan of Queensberry products, and I am so excited to finally have one in my possession. I can’t wait to share this with my clients! Honestly, these photos just don’t do this album justice. It is an heirloom quality product, and I think you have to hold it in your hands to truly appreciate how incredible it is. Maggie : Class of 2012

I’ll be honest: This session is a tough one for me to post. I feel like it was yesterday that I was chasing Maggie around her front yard playing tag. She is my best friend’s younger sister, I have known her since she was three years old. Yes, you did read that right, but just in case you missed it I said three years old! Craziness! Normally I would call her Emma’s little sister, but I just can’t look at these photos and call her little. She has turned into such a classy, radiant young woman, and I am so honored that she asked me to do her senior portraits for her. She has a fabulous smile, and personally I don’t think I could have taken a bad picture of her if I had tried!

Married! Kenneth & Tiffany : Pristine Chapel Wedding

Are you feeling lucky? Because I sure am! Kenneth and Tiffany planned a beautiful, elegant St. Patrick’s Day wedding at Pristine Chapel in Morrow and I had the joy of capturing it for them. This was my first time shooting at Pristine, but I hope it won’t be my last! The decor is simply stunning, and the light is a photographer’s dream. I loved the special touches that Tiffany incorporated into her details. She wore her grandmother’s ring, carried portraits of both of her grandmothers on her bouquet, and had three shamrocks engraved on Kenneth’s ring in honor of their wedding date.

My favorite thing about these two, though, is the way they interact with each other. They were both completely at ease, and they love to snuggle, smile and laugh together. I am completely in love with their portraits!

Oh my GOODNESS! There is SO much to love about this fabulous wedding! I was so excited when Tom and Christina invited me to celebrate and document their special day. These two were made for each other, and their love for each other is brilliantly displayed in the friendship that they share. I was especially excited because I have so much respect for Christina. She is passionate and determined, and she carries herself with grace and confidence. I feel so blessed to have been their photographer, and I loved capturing every detail of their wedding.

Oh, how I love engagement sessions! Having an engagement session before your wedding allows you to get to know me and my shooting style, but it also gives you the opportunity to create a collection of images that reflect who the two of you are at this special time in your lives. You get to relax and enjoy being together, and I get to figure out the best way to photograph the two of you in a way that reflects your personalities. As much as I love engagement sessions, you can imagine how excited I was when Tom and Christina decided to bring me up to Washington, DC to photograph them! Christina and I are sorority sisters, birthday buddies (Yay Groundhog’s Day babies!), and we share a love of traveling, so I feel so honored to be able to photograph their wedding. Tom and Christina will be getting married this Saturday, and I know it’s going to be a remarkable day full of love, laughter and beautiful details. Adventures in Home Ownership : The Dining Room

Welcome to a new series on the blog – Adventures in Home Ownership! Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing some of the ups and downs that my husband and I have been through since purchasing our home in August. The most exciting part for me will be sharing the before and after pictures as I take you on a tour of the changes we’ve made over the last six months. First up on the before and after tour: the dining room! This is what the room looked like when we bought the house.Why someone thought this particular shade of blue was a good idea, I’m not sure. When we toured the house for the first time, this room was filled with 3 different mismatched sofas, all with clutter piled on top. It kind of reminded me of a graveyard for unwanted furniture. Once the room was cleared out, I realized that the carpet was in surprisingly good condition, and the room actually had the potential to be really beautiful. My husband had a hard time envisioning our home looking elegant, since so many of the walls were covered in ugly paint and 90′s wallpaper, so I decided to tackle this room first to show him the transformative power of paint. I’m pretty proud of how it turned out!There are still some changes left to be made. I need to pick curtains, hang photographs and get a new light fixture (that gold has got to go!) but overall I think the switch from blue to gray is a significant improvement.For anyone who is interested, the bottom panel of the wall required 2 coats of Kilz primer and 3 coats of Glidden Ultra White paint to fully cover the blue. The gray on top is Sparrow from Behr. My husband bought the table at JcPenny Furniture Outlet before we got married (that’s right, my husband has amazing taste! ), the plates are from Target, and the place mats, napkins and napkin rings are all from Bed, Bath and Beyond. The red accents were gifts from my mom for Christmas. I haven’t decided what I want the official accent color to be yet, because I keep going back and forth between red, turquoise, leaf green or some shade of purple. It’ll probably be another few months before this room can truly be considered finished, but I’ll make sure to share more photos when I’m done!The little plant in the upper right frame of this collage is called an air plant. It was a Christmas gift from Katie at Boukates. She always gives the cutest gifts!Next up on the house tour: The kitchen!
