A Look Back at 2010

To my beautiful brides – past, present and future – who have dreamed and planned and poured yourselves into your wedding days, opened a door of friendship to me, invited me into your inner circle, treated me like family, shared your greatest joys and frustrations, encouraged me with your enthusiasm and simply loved your husbands with all that is in you

To the grooms who have laughed with, cried with, supported and loved their wonderful ladies, watched them with awe in their eyes, held them close and chased their worries and fears away

To the fathers who have proudly walked their daughters down the aisle

To the mothers who have wiped away silent, happy tears

To the grandparents who have held hands and watched their children’s children promise to give each other what you have already given to each other

To the bridesmaids who have hugged me tight and the groomsmen who have tried to convince me to dance

To the ring bearers and flower girls who fight exhaustion with all your might and dance the night away

To the little brother who danced like Usher and looked like Justin Beiber

To the couple who met at a disco and 35 years later still loves to dance, even to Shakira

To the guests who endured the rain to watch two young lovers give their lives to each other

To my couples who have have been courageous enough to share your love stories with me and allowed your love to be captured on camera

Thank you. Your passion both for your families and for my work has empowered me to be a better wife, photographer and friend. I am truly better for having known you, and I cannot thank you enough for trusting me to document the most precious moments of your lives. I get to wake up every day excited about my job because of you. This journey would not be as exciting, fun and full of joy without you. Your stories are not forgotten. You are not just faces in a crowd. You have impacted me in a powerful way, and I cannot forget the joy that you have shared with me. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

To celebrate the end of another wedding season, I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite wedding photos from this year. Enjoy!

Married! Patrick & Meredith : Atlanta, GA

I had to begin with this photo because it’s one of my favorites:)Meredith and Patrick were good friends of mine during my early years at Georgia Tech, and I feel so blessed to have been a part of their wedding. The photo above was taken at Juniors, which is where they shared their first date. How sweet!

I am a big fan of classic style, so of course I loved Meredith’s dress. It was simple and elegant, and it suited her perfectly. I also love this photo I grabbed of the bridesmaids peeking in on Meredith’s progress. You can tell they’re all overflowing with joy.

Is this not one of the cutest things you’ve ever seen? Meredith’s grandmother is an expert at tying bows, but she can only do it from the front so she had to wrap her arms around Meredith’s waist. What a precious moment!

Meredith’s eyes looked stunning in every picture. They’re beautiful! And I love the way the wind is pulling at her dress in the second image.

Meet Patrick, Meredith’s lucky groom. He is such a gentleman and a sweetheart, and I could not be happier for the two of them.

It’s time to show off another favorite! While Meredith and Patrick prayed together during communion, Patrick placed a gentle hand around his bride’s waist. These sweet little flower girls decided they wanted to snuggle close, too, and the resulting image makes me smile every time I look at it.

The bride and groom rode to the reception together in a classic Rolls Royce.

When we arrived at Georgia Tech, I had a few moments alone with the bride and groom so that we could create some relaxed, romantic photos of them together. They interact so sweetly and naturally together. They were truly a joy to photograph.

The happy couple was going to leave through a path filled with bubbles, but the bubbles were left at the church so that family improvised and pulled some rose petals off of a few flower arrangements. I think the resulting image shows that their efforts were well worth it!

Congratulations, guys! I wish you two a lifetime of joy filled moments together.:)Thank you for inviting me to document your wonderful wedding.

Where in the world is Lauren these days?

Wow! What a crazy two weeks it has been since I last blogged. I’ve been doing some business house keeping this week, and I thought I should probably give you a little peek into what you have to look forward to over the next few weeks. First and foremost, I’M MARRIED NOW! Woo! So you’ll get to see lots of wedding photos, I promise! Anne did a fantastic job documenting our wedding, and I can’t wait to share her wonderful images with all of you. If you’d like to see a sneak preview of some of our photos, you can view her blog post here. And just because I’m in love with this photo, here’s one of my favorite portraits from the day:

A few days after I got home from the honeymoon, our fabulous cake designer Karol Sherling (aka the Queen of Confections) contacted me to ask if I’d photograph a very special cake that she had made the previous weekend. I was delighted to do it, especially when she showed up with this in her arms:

Yes, it’s all edible. Cake, icing, chocolate and fondant. Yum. And last but most CERTAINLY not least, last night I headed into Atlanta to photograph Nicole & Marc’s engagement session. Here’s one quick peek from their session:

Like I said, I’ll have a lot more updates soon, so stay tuned! It’s about to get really exciting around here!
