That girl was a one time teenage drama queen { Jonesboro, GA }

Anyone recognize the song reference in the title? If not, it’s okay. I forgive you. Not everyone is a fan of Lindsay Lohan. I’m not really either, but when I think of Emma, I can’t help but think of the movie Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. Emma and I have been close friends since we met on a playground at daycare. In the eleven years that I have known her, I have yet to meet another person who dreams as big and as boldly as she does. She is a passionate woman who absolutely loves life, Jesus Christ and performing. She is a singer, actress and dancer who has recently added choreography and sewing to her long list of talents. Any time that I have a new camera or other photography-related toy (oops, I mean piece of equipment) to test drive, she is the first person that I call. Can you see why?

Baby, it’s cold outside!

Well, I’m sure it’s cold outside somewhere. The high today in Atlanta is 54 degrees, and it’s supposed to get warmer as the weekend progresses. It’s difficult for me to be completely in the Christmas Spirit when it’s so warm, but when I came across this video on another photographer’s blog, it just made me smile. So, in the hope of tricking myself into really believing that Christmas is coming soon, I’m sharing this video with you. It’s a clip from the movie Neptune’s Daughter, starring Ricardo Montalban and Esther Williams. Merry Christmas!

Oh, the places you’ll go { Venice Beach, CA }

After our morning adventures with the horses and driving around the mountains, Kyleen and I headed to Venice Beach to watch the sunset and see the performers. While the dancers, drummers and skaters were entertaining, by far the funniest thing I saw while we walked around was a teenage girl who was running around shouting, “I am a fat cupcake!” at the top of her lungs. She was hanging out with some guys around a henna tattoo stand, and when we passed them, Kyleen turned to me and said, “I want one!” So we stopped and she asked the man to sketch the tattoo that she eventually wants to get permanently done on her wrist.

To explain a little bit, Kyleen believes that God is calling her to serve him in Africa. She does not know when- she just knows that one day she is supposed to go. Whether or not you are a believer in Christ, I encourage you to check out her blog. She is dedicated to following God’s will for her life, and so far He has led her on quite an exciting adventure. I am really excited that I’ve been able to be a part of it, and I look forward to seeing where God leads her next!

As we sat on the beach, I couldn’t help but think about how amazing sunsets are. Every one is so very different, and I believe in SoCal (or maybe it’s just on the west coast in general) the sunsets seem much more colorful and brilliant than they are do in Atlanta. I see sunsets like this and others that people like Becker post on their blogs, and I am just overwhelmed by how absolutely beautiful they are.
