Fashion Feature : Dolly Couture

Confession time: I love 50′s fashion. LOVE it. There’s just something about poofy, swirly skirts and sweetheart necklines that make my heart sing. I could spend hours wandering through rows of 50′s dresses if given the chance. Unfortunately, the closest I come to that is browsing the online catalog for Posh Girl Vintage. But I digress. I love 50′s fashion, so when I stumbled across the work of well loved designer Dolly Thicke, I was hooked. I had to see them for myself, so I emailed her, confessed my adoration, and asked if she’d mind letting me borrow a few of her gowns for a fashion shoot. She called me back that evening, and the rest, as they say, is history!

These dresses are stylish, cute and extremely well made. In addition to being sweet and an absolute pleasure to work with, Dolly is committed to delivering a high quality product. You won’t find any thin, discolored or overly shiny fabrics here, and the dresses are finished beautifully. If you’re looking for a fun, sassy, elegant dress for your wedding, you should check out her line of custom gowns. You won’t be disappointed:)

Now, on to the photos! In the first few, Willie is sporting the Manhattan, one of Dolly’s best selling gowns, and it’s no wonder! It’s such a simple, elegant design, and it can be dressed up or down in a number of ways.

Now, I could have packed up and gone home once the sun set, but where’s the fun in that? It just so happens that I had a fog machine and some colored gels in my trunk, so I decided to play. Willie is a wonderful model and she did a great job with the photos above, but she seriously unleashed her inner diva for these photos, and I couldn’t be more pleased. She’s so awesome!

Engaged! Matt & Carolyn : Atlanta, GA

Rain, rain, GO AWAY! Come again another day. Oh, I don’t know, like maybe when I don’t have sessions scheduled. Yeah, that would be awesome:)In theory, I love that Atlanta is getting a lot of rain this year, because rain is better than drought. However, I hate having to reschedule due to rain. Luckily, Matt and Carolyn were not to be deterred by a few rain drops. We proudly busted out our striped golf umbrellas and wandered around campus taking shelter where we could and creating a collection of cute, snuggley engagement photos.

Confession: Georgia Tech students spend WAY too much of our lives in the library. I think it’s part of our educational survival instinct. When I asked Carolyn if there was anywhere on campus that had special value for her and Matt, she jokingly responded the library, because they had spent so much time together there. I guess this should be a lesson to the rest of my clients: Joke not, lest you be asked to make out among rows and rows of dusty old books!:)

Meet Willie

Blog readers, meet Willie. In addition to being a courageous, intelligent, adventurous young woman, she’s also a rockin’ model. When she called and told me she’s being considered for a position with a gun accessories company (oh, right, did I forget she’s also an AMAZING shooter?) and she needed headshots to send them, I jumped on the opportunity to photograph her! Isn’t she stunning?

I know these next two photos are very similar, but I wanted to show them both a) because I know you can’t get enough of Willie and b) because I love the way the background colors bring out the color of her eyes in the second photo.

Willie will be modeling for my Dolly Couture shoot later this week, so stay tuned for more beautiful photos of her as well as a preview from Matt & Carolyn’s engagement session that I photographed Sunday afternoon.
