La Première : AASU Fashion Show

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of photographing the 2nd Annual Fashion Show produced by the Georgia Tech AASU. The show was hosted at the Ferst Center for the Arts here on campus, and all of the men and women strutting their stuff on the runway were Georgia Tech students. I was amazed by all the of the talent that was displayed during the show. It was even more encouraging to see that the models were not just your typical 6’2″ double zero sized models that you usually see in fashion. The show featured a diverse mix of individuals with two things in common: they had confidence and attitude.

The show was divided into sections, and each segment had an accompanying theme that related to a popular movie. The next photo on the left came from the Matrix segment, and the photo on the right is from the Sex and the City segment.

Um, hello! Can you say FIERCE? Rawr.

By far, my favorite part of the show featured designs that were inspired by the 1980′s film Flash Dance. The outfits were so fun!

Congratulations to all of the producers and participants involved in putting on this show. You guys did an AMAZING job!

Engaged! Derrick & Tina : Atlanta, GA

When I asked Tina what kind of feeling or inspiration she wanted from her engagement photos, she told me that she and Derrick would love to just spend a lazy day in the park, so that’s exactly what we did. She grabbed a blanket, a cute little vase and the picnic basket that her mom received as a wedding present, and we set out for Piedmont Park. Spending the afternoon with these two was relaxing and fun. We wandered around chatting about life and swapping funny stories, and I felt like I was catching up with two old friends. These two just have a way of making you feel that way. They are high school sweethearts who have been together for 9 years, and I cannot wait to celebrate their wedding with them in July.

I love this image because Tina’s joy is written all over her face. You can tell she’s still so excited to be with Derrick even after having been together for so long already. That’s the kind of love I want to share with my husband one day, and it was really encouraging to spend the afternoon with two people who so obviously cherish each other.

Another favorite. The light here is so perfect, and both Tina and Derrick look so content. I love it!:)

We had to trek through what felt like the wilderness to get this photo. I knew exactly where I wanted to go, but I didn’t realize that they had fenced most of this area in and turned it into a dog park, so we had to take the scenic route to get here. I think it was well worth the trip.

Derrick’s last name is “Voss,” so they brought along a bottle of Voss water to include in some of the photos. I think it turned out really cute:)

Engaged! Matthew & Miranda : Atlanta, GA

When my alarm clock rang at 7am Sunday morning, my first instinct was to curl deeper in the covers and return to my sweet dreams, but when I remembered why I had to wake up so early and I threw off the covers and jumped out of bed. It was finally time for Matthew & Miranda’s engagement session! Miranda was a bridesmaid in Bill & Jena’s wedding last year, so of course I was ecstatic when she contacted me about photographing her wedding in Amelia Island in May.

These two are such a sweet couple, and we had so much fun exploring Piedmont Park together. I didn’t know this originally, but they got engaged in Piedmont Park early in the morning, so we couldn’t have chosen a better time or place to celebrate their love. Not to mention, the early morning light was really amazing. Check out the warm glow it brings to their skin.

Hurray for the return of green grass! As you may have noticed, I pretty much always prefer to shoot outside if I can, and it’s days like this that make me love being outside so much.

This long (an apparently very stubborn) winter almost made me forget how beautiful spring is in Atlanta. The city really come alive when the trees that have so long been skeletons turn bright green with new leaves. Despite the pollen and the weather’s crazy mood swings, I love spring in Atlanta. It’s such a beautiful time, and I was definitely excited to shoot among the azalea blooms in the park!

Ah, sweet bliss. I know I already posted this one, but I HAVE to post it again because it’s my favorite:)

Like I said before, the early morning light was UNREAL.

Matt and Miranda, I had such a great time wandering around with you two and your little puppy. I am so pumped for your wedding in a few weeks, and I can’t wait to see you again!
