Robert picked up my mom and I, and we set off to wander through the hundreds of designers that were showing off the latest fashions at Atlanta Apparel 2009. After spending a few hours getting lost in rows upon rows of stores, we headed to the Dekalb Farmer’s Market. Robert and I love going to the farmer’s market because they have the most amazing fresh fruit juices there. We poked and teased and joked around with each other as we tried to squeeze through the assembled masses that wound their way through the aisles of the market, and we chased each other around the parking lot while my mom shook her head at us. Just another wonderful day.
When we arrived at home, Robert mentioned that he was going to sit on the front porch to check his email, so I grabbed my computer to join him. When I got outside, he was digging through his computer bag. “Look what I found in my bag,†he said. I stood up to look over his shoulder and he took my hand in his. Now, Robert is one of those hide-around-the-corner-and-jump-out-to-scare-you kind of guys, so naturally I assumed he was trying to trick me somehow and I tried to pull away. That’s when he pulled out the ring box. He looked up at me with a smile and began… “Lauren Wright…â€Â
I. Freaked. Out. Seriously. I could not believe it. My eyes and smile grew wide and I half-laughed, half-shouted, “SERIOUSLY? You’re doing this now? You’re really doing this right now?†He just smiled and said, “Yes, I’m doing this right now.†He told me how much he loved me, and that he knew it was God’s plan for us to be together. He told me that he had loved the 3 years he had spent with me so far, and he was looking forward to spending a lifetime with me. Then he asked me to marry him, and I responded with a rather emphatic and excited, “YES, PLEASE!!â€Â
You see, August 22, 2009 began as an ordinary day. I went shopping with my mom. Robert and I played tag like little kids in the parking lot. We sat together on the front porch of my parent’s home and talked about life and love and all things in between. But, like most of the “ordinary†days that Robert and I share, it was a day to be celebrated. It was a day to be remembered. It was an extraordinary ordinary day, and I look forward to a lifetime of days shared with him!

He is my best friend. He is my handsome prince. He is mine, and I am his. God has chosen for us to honor Him together, and I can’t wait to see what He has planned for us!
