I don’t even know where to begin describing this wedding, so I’m just going to jump in with the pictures! Ian and Jenna were married at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Columbus, Georgia. To say that these two are cool would be an understatement. Ian leads worship for various church plants south of the Metro area, and Jenna is a photoshop addict and an amazing retoucher. I knew from Jenna’s first email that we would become fast friends, and I have been excited about their wedding for a very long time. I’m so excited to be able to share these images with all of you!
I love these two photographs from their first look. Jenna looks so mischevious sneaking up behind Ian, and then so overjoyed when she gets to see his face!
When I sat down to talk to Jenna and Ian about their wedding day, one of the concerns that Jenna had was that she felt the church was a little plain, and that there might not be many places to get interesting pictures. I was excited to have a challenge! It’s always fun to photograph people in unexpected places. For example, the blue background is actually the door of a mobile storage unit that was in the parking lot next door. How cool is that?
I don’t cry at weddings. I am amazed by them. I love them. I celebrate them. I laugh and cheer and dance, but I haven’t ever cried… until now. As I watched Ian & Jenna’s parents surround them to lift them up in prayer, I just couldn’t help myself. In that moment, I was so overwhelmed by God’s love for us. Not only did He give us His Son to be our redeemer and His Spirit to be our comforter, but He also brings people together so that love can have a face and a voice and an embrace. He is such an amazing Father, and His love was displayed so beautifully by these two. It was such a blessing to document this part of their love story.
What a fun, attractive bunch! I absolutely love the way Jenna coordinated the colors of the wedding party. The bridesmaids’ sashes, jewelry, and bouquets matched the color of the escorts’ boutonniere and SOCKS! How fun!
After the ceremony, we headed to the Port Columbus Civil War Naval Museum for the reception. This place was absolutely unreal. It was the perfect backdrop for Ian & Jenna’s rockin’ party! Here are the best dancing shots of the evening. I’ll be posting out takes later!
Jenna and Ian, you know I love you guys! Thank you so much for inviting me to be a part of your wedding day, and for being AMAZING in general! I can’t wait to find out what adventures God has planned for the two of you.
